Brett is a Juris Doctor graduate from Bond University in Australia and was called to the British Columbia Bar in June 2026. He brings a strong foundation in litigation, legal research, and courtroom preparation, having helped prepare for and attend over 20 British Columbia Supreme Court trials, as well as hearings before the British Columbia Court of Appeal.

Originally from Kansas City, Missouri, Brett was first exposed to the legal profession through his father’s law practice. After moving from Kansas City to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and later to Victoria, British Columbia, Brett developed resilience, adaptability, and a strong work ethic, qualities that continue to shape his approach to practice.

During law school, Brett distinguished himself academically and as an advocate. He graduated at the top of his class, received 15 First-in-Class awards, and was named to the Vice Chancellor’s List of Excellence five out of six possible times. In each of his final two semesters, he received the Executive Dean’s Award for achieving the highest average grade percentage in the Faculty of Law.

Brett was selected as Valedictorian of his graduating class. His advocacy experience included representing Bond University as first speaker in the Michael Kirby Contract Moot, where his team finished runner-up among 25 teams across Australia and Brett was recognized as Best Oralist of the Final Rounds. Brett also competed in Canada’s prestigious Wilson Moot in 2024, which centred on novel and complex Charter issues.

Brett believes that the practice of law should be personal, attentive, and grounded in trust. He understands that clients often seek legal assistance during some of the most stressful and uncertain periods in their lives. For that reason, he strives to combine clear communication with thoughtful advocacy, so that clients not only understand the legal process, but also feel genuinely supported throughout it.

Outside of practice, Brett values an active and balanced lifestyle. He enjoys golf, fitness, reading, and spending time with family and friends. He is also an avid sports fan and has a lifelong affection for German Shepherds, having grown up with them. Time outdoors, including running or hiking with his family dog, helps him stay grounded and focused
